North Carolina stands to benefit greatly from the rise of fuel cells and hydrogen. These technologies proffer economic, environmental and security opportunties for all citizens of state. The Roadmap will outline actions the state can take to support growth of this technology and facilitate the transition to a new energy future. Development of the plan is in the early stages.
September 22, 2005 marked the formal start of NC's Roadmap process. This event was held at the NC State College of Textiles. Co-hosted by the NC Fuel Cell Alliance and Fuel Cell South, this event featured presentations from the NC State Energy Office, the coordinator of NC's Hydrogen Economy Action Team (a volunteer-supported grassroots initiative), and the Appalachian State University Energy Center. The main feature of this event was small group sessions in which participants provided their insight into opportunities and barriers the Roadmap should address and individuals who should be consulted during the Roadmap's development. A report on the meeting is available here.
A few supporting documents are available at this time. The first is an overview of the process employed in creating the existing state roadmaps, available here.
